Some 7 years ago I met the most beautiful woman I’ve ever met in my life. I met her at work. She was dating another guy at the time, and I believe he challenged her at some point telling her that she could never do the kind of work he does. I found out that she is competitive.
I happened to work in machine setup in the area she was placed, water heaters. I was friendly with another one of the guys she happened to talk to on breaks. She was social and would get me out of my comfort zone. One day she mentions to me casually that she could use a gym buddy. We could help motivate each other. Our relationship was platonic at this point and casual.
We ended up going to the gym together and started talking outside work. There seemed to be a lot of issues at the time that weren’t being directly resolved. I was a sounding board for her, always trying to keep it positive. For her, at least. I noticed that she was ok being treated in a way that women shouldn’t be OK being treated.
The first thing I noticed that was off, is she excused herself one day to walk halfway down the aisle and then walk back. She was frank about why she left when she came back. I told her in that moment that she never needed to do that again.
One day at work she texts me and tells me that her boyfriend broke up with her. Her clothes were thrown out on the front lawn, in the rain. She hadn’t cheated on him with me. I immediately took over giving her rides wherever she needed to go. Very quickly after this I got moved into the front office and she quit. She would have been stuck on the same shift with him, and the plant manager wasn’t willing to work with me on the situation at all. Neither was the CEO or anyone else for that matter.
We happened to make it. Within a few months we moved out of my parents’ house into apartments right across the street from her mom’s house. Then we moved into Redwood Apartments. After a few leases my mom asked me to move back into her house to take it over, that it would be put in my name. That never happened. Her and my father ran us out of the house, and now it is repeating here where we are at now.
Social services have not called us back yet. I was supposed to get a call back within 30 minutes.
