A spaceship MMORPG set in a fictional universe where people can play together and build things.
It seems every company in the world is affected by whatever is causing people to act out.
I’m very sorry to report that my favorite video game is currently affected by this so much that I am about to biomass all of my characters after spending 5 years playing the game in my free time.
For right now, you will have to reach out and see for yourself what exactly is going on. RMT has been a big topic of discussion lately. RMT stands for real-money-trading and it’s where individuals pay real life money for virtual assets in the game. This is illegal. You are not allowed to trade items in the game for real life money. You can spend real life money on the game, and get money in the game, and buy anything in the game you want via that method.
When people in EVE online think about RMT, Fraternity is the first thing that comes to mind. Fraternity is an alliance made up of many corporations many of which come from the Serenity EVE online server. Serenity is the Chinese instance of the game. I was in a corporation that ended up joining Fraternity. We joined because they needed English-speaking players to bolster their numbers. After I moved most of my assets in the game to their space, I ended up taking a forced break from the game. Weird things started happening to me in real life. Things got so bad that I started asking some of the players that I played the game with for help with something in real life. No one knew what to say.
I can still program just the same as I did a few years ago, but there are other people now present in my mind watching what I’m doing having influence. I’ve stopped doing anything advanced when it comes to IT or programming so I’m not teaching criminals. I got fired from my job and haven’t been able to get a job since. Not even working at a temporary agency. I started playing the game again and players in game managed to get in front of me no matter where I went in the game.
I had some losses that shouldn’t have happened. I didn’t complain, I just stopped doing anything risky in the game. I mainly logged in to do the event tracks. During the last event, the Crimson Harvest, I received standing losses while killing the event NPC’s for Amarr faction and Blood Raider corporation.
Then I started having people get inside my house when I’m not home to get data off of my devices so they could log in my accounts and take them. I was actually locked out of my accounts at one point but managed to get everything recovered. All my assets in the game were still there.
Now I cannot get a satisfactory answer to any of my questions from anyone that works at the game. They have all turned a cold shoulder to me. This is why I will be biomassing my characters. This means I’m going to delete them, and the names of my characters can be taken over by these people.
I truly hope this doesn’t happen to anyone else. It is the most horrifying experience of my life knowing that people are always watching, getting in front of me in real life and a video game.
While sitting in the system 4-HWWF we had a cyno vigil for a player on the other side of a conflict that died from a heart attack. His character was wearing a Blood Raiders outfit. I was told that I was next, and that’s why 200 players stayed the day after. After hearing this I used asset safety to get all of my assets to a safe location in low-security space.
I’m not being threatened with a lifetime ban from the game for letting my brother use my computer. I’ve never let my brother use my computer in my life, either one of them. They both know I would probably throw a punch if I found them in my bedroom. I kept my door shut and locked at all times and never gave either of them any of my passwords.
Whoever got into my accounts got into them by putting something inside my body. Then they were able to see through my eyes and hear my inside voice. They got all my passwords as I typed them.
