“I didn’t know”

Posted on December 30, 2025December 30, 2025 by cbain

There is a human being that says this every time they are proven wrong. And they are proven wrong very often. It seems to me though that the people around this person always let it go after an “I didn’t know”.

This is very dangerous. Letting people get away with being confidently wrong all the time and letting them just say “I didn’t know” literally makes them a useless human being. Incapable of learning things on their own. They are literally regurgitation machines and there seem to be too many of them.

When you are proven wrong, saying “I didn’t know” is the stupidest response. It does not absolve you of being wrong. You should feel massive shame. But you never do. Maybe this is a new form of psychopathy where the only feeling missing from their repertoire is shame.

The only time I’ve ever said “I didn’t know” in my life is when I truly did not know something and somebody provided me new information that I am grateful for. I’ve never said it to stop people from coming at me for being wrong.

The person who says this all the time does think that based on the reaction of the person they were talking to that they’ve gotten away with the thing they have done wrong.
