I was sitting in my car behind the store where my partner works having lunch with her. I see security for the area pull up in front of me. They see me sitting in the same area just about every day multiple times a day. They see me when I drop my partner off at work, when I go have lunch with her and when I go pick her up- for a few years now.
Yesterday was the first day the security guards actually walked up to my vehicle to speak to me. One of the guards informs me that they had received a call about a vehicle matching my description who was driving erratically and nearly hit a pedestrian.
I was stumped. The caller was 100% calling about my car, but I had not driven in the area that the caller implied I nearly hit someone. I could tell the security guard was stumped as well.
Almost hitting someone is serious, and I suggested they call the police, and I would wait right here to get this resolved. I know I was driving safely, and there are cameras covering the whole area. It took a minute to clear the air, but the security guard realized that I was either not the person the caller was calling about, or the caller was flat out lying.
I do not feel like the security guards did anything wrong. They did do their job and handled themselves well even as the verbal exchange heated a little. We both apologized to each other and went on about our day. The person making these kinds of calls to cause trouble for doctors, police officers, security and management needs to be apprehended.
